BYD has dropped its July sales numbers, and they are as absurd as expected. The Shenzhen-based giant moved 419,211 vehicles last month, with passenger vehicles accounting for 411,072 of those. That is not a monthly figure; that is a small country's annual car market.

The real story, though, is overseas. BYD exported 179,841 vehicles in July, up 124.3% year-on-year. At home, the main BYD brand (Dynasty + Ocean series) contributed 350,178 units, Fangchengbao added 41,213, Denza delivered 19,196, and Yangwang — still ultra-niche — sold 485.
Year-to-date, BYD has now sold 2.23 million vehicles, with overseas cumulative volume closing in on 970,000. The company also notes that total new-energy vehicle sales have now surpassed 17.3 million units across its history. Numbers like these explain why competitors in Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America are suddenly very nervous.
Editor's Note: Nearly 180,000 export units in a single month would make most global OEMs weep with joy. BYD is no longer just the biggest NEV player in China — it is becoming the standard by which everyone else's scale gets measured.
