A JV That Actually Moves Units

Buick's Zijing E7 just delivered 10,000 units in its first month on sale — the fastest any joint-venture NEV has ever reached that mark. In a market where domestic brands have been eating JV lunch for years, that number is worth pausing on.
The buyer profile tells the story: 85% are married with children, and nearly 70% opted for the top-spec Turbo trim with the full "child health and comfort" package. Buick positioned the E7 as "the perfect cabin for kids" — and the market responded. The five-constant health cabin, TÜV-certified low blue-light screens, and OEKO-TEX maternal-grade materials clearly hit the right nerve.

SAIC-GM isn't stopping at one model. Alongside the E7 milestone, Buick unveiled the E5 Avenir IR and confirmed the upcoming PHEV sedan and E7 Avenir for later this year. The message is clear: Buick is building a full Electra portfolio, not a one-hit wonder. With its "Three-Highs" strategy — high aesthetics, high quality, high intelligence — the brand is trying to define what a modern JV NEV should look like.
Editor's note:
Ten thousand deliveries in thirty days is not luck — it's product-market fit. While BYD and NIO grab headlines, Buick quietly built a family SUV that Chinese parents actually want to buy. The real question now is whether SAIC-GM can sustain this momentum across the full Electra lineup. Because one fast month is great. A fast year would be a real comeback story.
