Shanghai GM Buick is not sitting out the premium BEV sedan war. On August 5, the brand opened pre-orders for the Zhijing L7 EV, the all-electric sibling of the previously announced extended-range version.

The spec sheet reads like a checklist of everything Chinese EV buyers now demand as standard. The L7 EV comes with 800V high-voltage architecture, 6C ultra-fast charging, and a CATL battery good for 702 km of pure-electric range. Buick is essentially saying: no more excuses, no more half-steps into electrification.

Dimensions mirror the EREV variant: 5,032 mm in length and a 3,000 mm wheelbase. That puts it squarely in the executive sedan class, with the cabin space to match.

For a brand long associated with comfortable but conservative ICE sedans, the Zhijing L7 EV is a clear statement. Whether buyers see it as a genuine new-energy contender or just another legacy badge chasing BYD and NIO remains to be seen.
