August 1, 2024 (Shanghai) — IM Motors, backed by SAIC, has officially unveiled its “Stellar” Super Range Extender, positioning it as “an EV with a built-in ultra-fast charger.” Featuring an industry-leading 66kWh 800V battery pack, the Stellar system delivers a CLTC electric range of 450km – enough for a week’s commute on a single charge- and a combined range of 1500km. A 15-minute 800V ultra-fast charge adds 310km CLTC range, while NVH optimizations keep cabin noise below 36dB.

Key Facts:
- Longest PHEV Battery Range: 450km CLTC (66kWh 800V battery co-developed with CATL), supported by 268kW peak charging power.
- Uncompromised Performance: Maintains 275.5kW discharge power even at 16% battery, with 0-120km/h acceleration outperforming rivals.
- Ultra-Low Operating Costs: Just $0.05/km in EV mode; 5.32L/100km hybrid fuel efficiency (35% lower than competitors).
- All-Weather Capable: Features a low-temperature mode ensuring full performance at -20°C, with battery preheating to 20°C for consistent range.
- Safety: Exceeds 2026 Chinese battery safety standards with aerospace-grade cell-to-pack design (7-layer protection).

EDITOR’S NOTE
IM Motors’ Stellar technology blurs the line between PHEVs and BEVs, addressing core pain points—range anxiety, charging speed, and winter performance. If pricing stays competitive (watch the LS6’s August reveal), other PHEVautomakers may need to revisit their PHEV playbooks.
