YANGWANG U8L INTERIOR LEAK: BYD UNVEILS HAND-STITCHED ‘IMPERIAL COCOON’ CABIN

Published on

July 15, 2024 (Shenzhen) – BYD’s premium brand, Yangwang, has released the first official interior images of its upcoming U8L flagship SUV, revealing a meticulously crafted cabin that redefines Chinese automotive luxury. The images showcase a masterclass in opulent detailing, confirming earlier speculation about the stretched SUV’s ultra-premium positioning ahead of its anticipated Q4 2024 launch.

FIRST LOOK HIGHLIGHTS

Stretched Dimensions – 200mm longer wheelbase (3,150mm total) vs U8, delivering 5.3m³ cabin space – largest-in-class rear legroom

Hyper-Luxury Interior – White/purple & black/brown Nappa leather themes, 24K gold emblems, diamond-quilted seats with zero-gravity second row

Tech Onslaught – Triple-laser “Celestial Eye” ADAS, tri-screen dashboard (dual 23.6″ + 12.8″), ceiling-mounted rear display replaces seat-back screens

Powertrain Prowess – 880kW/1,280Nm quad-motor PHEV (2.0T range extender), YiSiFang torque vectoring + Yunian-P hydraulic suspension with cross-axle locks

Target Audience – Developed via user surveys demanding “nobler” positioning than standard U8’s adventure focus

UPGRADES OVER U8

Design: Smoother continuous AC vents vs U8’s periscope style, reshaped armrests
Practicality: Flip-down tray tables, electrochromic sunroof, 172mm rear overhang extension
Exclusive: New obsidian black/gold two-tone paint (world premiere)

Anticipated launch: Q2 2025 | Est. price: USD $180,000 / RMB 1,298,000

EDITOR’S NOTE
Forget ‘Tesla Minimalism’ – BYD’s designers treat luxury like a Ming Dynasty cabinetmaker, layering leather, metals and tech into what may be China’s most obsessively detailed interior yet.
