EDITOR’S NOTE

NIO’s battery swap network, while impressive, is a monumentally capital-intensive gamble. With CATL’s 10-minute fast-charging condensed battery hitting the market in 2026 and solid-state tech rapidly advancing, NIO’s hardware-heavy model faces an acute risk of obsolescence. These swap stations could quickly become expensive relics unless they’re aggressively monetized.
